On February 28th, 2019 we opened a show in Chehalis, Washington. A huge thank you to Jason Mattson, museum director, for hosting us at the Lewis County Historical Museum. The show will be up through May, 2019.
Moniker - Mark of the Tramp focuses on the life of Leon Ray Livingston, better known by his moniker: A No. 1, and Tex King of Tramps, as documented by numerous arrest reports and newspaper clippings. We had a great turnout and appreciate everyone who made the trip, ranging from Everett, WA to Eugene, OR!
The museum is located in the historic 1912 Northern Pacific Railway depot, still along the very active line between Seattle and Portland.
Mike gave a short talk covering the history of hoboes, differentiations between hoboes, tramps, and bums, as well as the unlikely existence of 'hobo signs.' Following the talk we shared a video compiled from various documentaries, as well as a montage of hoboes in the movies from the early 1910s through the 1970s.
